ChatGPT’s New Beta Feature: Mention ‘@Custom GPTs’

On many online platforms, the ‘@’ symbol is used to mention or highlight a user within a post or comment. For instance, on Facebook, an ‘@highlight’ comment increases the size and visibility of a particular post1. This feature helps direct attention and foster interaction.

ChatGPT 4 is adopting the ‘@’ feature to mention Custom GPTs in your prompt. This means that users can directly interact with different GPTs within the main chat without opening a specific GPT.

Accessing the custom GPTs is easy, just type ‘@’. This will open up a drop-down list of all the Custom GPTs in your library. You can then choose the one you want to interact with. This feature makes it easy to switch between different GPTs, allowing for a more personalized interaction with the chatbot.

One you have mentioned your Custom GPT you can write your prompt and the chatbot will reply as the Custom GPT. Consider the ‘Health Benefits GPT’, an academic guru in natural medicine, providing evidence-based advice. This is just one example of a Custom GPT that can be used in ChatGPT-4. By simply typing ‘@’ followed by ‘Health Benefits GPT’, users can access this specialized AI for health-related queries. This demonstrates the versatility of ChatGPT-4, allowing users to tailor their AI interactions based on their specific needs.

While OpenAI has not officially announced this feature, its presence in the Beta phase of ChatGPT-4 is intriguing. The ability to mention Custom GPTs is just the start of new features now that the GPT Store has launched.
