What I learned studying Google’s Generative AI Course From A Non-Technical Perspective

I am currently documenting my journey into Generative AI & Prompt Designing from a non-technical perspective, in hopes that this will help others who are looking to enter the field of Prompt engineering using only their natural language skills.

When I made the decision to study & work with AI chatbots and prompt engineering I signed up for micro-learning a Google Cloud Skills Boost course on Introduction to Generative AI. At first I felt both excited and intimidated, with no background in engineering or coding, the topic of Large Language Models & Machine Learning all seemed very complex, at the time. But after Understanding the basic principles behind what created generative AI’s such as ChatGPT helped me to comprehend the mechanics behind how this revolutionary technology works. I was stepping into unknown territory, and there were moments when I questioned if I could even call myself an expert in this field.

The course was comprehensive, covering a wide range of topics from the basics of how chatbots work to the ethical considerations of AI. However, some parts of the course were overly technical and seemed more suited for those with an engineering background. As someone aiming to become a good prompt designer, I found these sections unnecessary.

Despite this, I persevered, clicking on every button and reading every article to learn more. I worked hard, and within a couple of weeks, I managed to finish the course and earn the certification; while I didn’t absorb everything from the course, it served its purpose. It made me feel more competent and ready to take on the challenges of prompt engineering.

In retrospect, I highly recommend this course. It’s not just about the technical knowledge you gain, but also about the journey of discovery and the confidence you build along the way.

As a non-technical person, I found this course to have a good balance between learning and challenge. It breaks AI down into easy to read, understandable concepts so it is assessable to everyone. This course has it all, it covers the back ground principles behind chatbots and their immense knowledge to the ethical standards under which AI is expected to operate. The best part of course is the fact that it is absolutely free!

Whether you are a beginner, curious learner, or a career switcher; this course opens up possibilities. Learn how it’s tailored for non-techies and get your introduction into the study of AI.

If you’re willing to put in the effort, you can definitely complete it in a week or two. So, if you’re considering stepping into the world of Generative AI and Prompt Designing, give this course a shot, especially since it is completely free! It’s a valuable stepping stone into this exciting field, and who knows, it might just be the confidence booster you need to kickstart your journey. You can fine the direct link to the course Here All you need to do is select, ‘start learning path’ then, sign in with a google account or sign up with an email and you are set to start your micro-learning journey.
