How you can get verification for your Custom GPTs: Builders can now connect with their social media

OpenAI has added a new feature to the GPT builder profile. You can now personalise your settings to connect your social media profile to pubically shared GPTs. As a builder you can now add social verification links including a website and socials such as Linkedin, GitHub & X (formerly Twitter)

I stumbled upon this update while working on a custom GPT, and decided to follow through with the process of adding my website and then my Linkedin – it was the only option considering I don’t personally have X or GitHub. In this blog, we’ll explore the significance of this verification process & how it works.

When it comes to professional verification, it makes sense that LinkedIn was the option compared to other social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook. LinkedIn has long been the go-to social media platform for professionals, offering a space to network, showcase skills, and build careers. The platform itself emphasises verified professional identities and stands out as a trusted source for authenticating personal and organizational credentials. This credibility is has now extended into the world of custom AI development and this collaboration aims to enhance the credibility and trustworthiness of custom GPT builders by ensuring their identities are genuine.

Here’s how to set up for verification:

1) Go to your profile settings; found in the top right corner.

2) Choose the builder profile heading on the left section.

3) Select the social platform you want to verify and click ‘add’

4) Enter your username and password and sign in to allow the verification process.

After this is verification, all your custom GPTs will now have the builder social profile attached to it.

Verifying your custom GPT builder account offers several benefits such as:

  • Verified profiles are perceived as more reliable and trustworthy.
  • Users are more likely to engage with and adopt models and services provided by verified builders, knowing that the individuals behind them are authentic and professionally accountable.
  • Being linked to a professional platform like LinkedIn can open up networking opportunities with other AI developers and professionals in the industry.
  • LinkedIn profiles often include endorsements and recommendations from colleagues, which can further enhance your professional credibility and attract more users to your custom GPT models.

By following this straightforward verification process, as a custom GPT builders can link your social platforms to your AI models, adding a layer of authenticity and accountability. The benefits are clear: enhanced visibility, increased user trust, and valuable networking opportunities within your social platform community.
